This is the perfect time of year to prepare and trim up the landscaping on your commercial property before spring arrives, bringing new leaves and blooms. Trimming branches and shrubs after the winter prepares your trees for a healthy spring. This is also an ideal time to clear the land you plan to develop. Once spring arrives, the land will be harder to clear.

All of this activity can create a lot of green waste, such as tree trimmings, grass cuttings, dead plants, leaves, branches, dead trees, brush, and small tree stumps. Green waste is basically vegetative matter resulting from landscaping or land clearing that can be composted.

So what do you do with all the green waste on your commercial property?

One common solution is the burning method. This is not ideal for the environment or your time, however. It also requires a burn permit and some effort to obey burn restrictions.

The Environmental Protection Division (EPD) of the State of Georgia defines open burning as any outdoor fire from which the products of combustion are emitted directly into the open air without passing through a stack, chimney, or duct. The maximum fine for illegally burning waste is $25,000 per day per violation. During the Summer Burn Ban, some of the illegal burning activities include: the reduction of leaves, acquired structure burns, and vegetative debris from storms. Other activities like weed abatement, land clearing, and pest prevention are also illegal. There are 30 Georgia counties with populations of 65,000 people or more that have non-summer burning bans from October 1 to April 30. For more information about open burning laws, visit the Georgia EPD website here.

Burning large amounts of green waste on your commercial property is also not a good way to win over your neighbors. It fills the area with smoke and, in some cases, can shower the area with ash. Not only is it a nuisance, but it is also a health hazard.

ADM Rolloff has an easy and fast solution for your green waste that will keep the Earth and your neighbors happy. Rather than polluting the environment by burning your green waste, recycle it into mulch that gives nutrients back to the earth and vegetation. The process is simple, and your green waste is properly handled.
